MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS—LatinX Outreach Project

Description: The Meet Your Neighbors (MYN) LatinX Outreach Project is working to engage west county LatinX groups to learn their ideas/approaches and needs related to disaster preparedness and response. Using and/or adapting existing MYN materials in Spanish the project team is working with the Promotoras in west county.

Goals

• Engage with the LatinX community in ways that are identified and supported by that community.

• Invite engaged individuals to participate in GHAC Advisory Committee, Board, and/or other projects

• Give presentations, in Spanish with Spanish support materials, that meet the needs of the LatinX individuals involved.

Successes

• Identifying and finding appropriate methods of engagement.

• The Promotoras of the lower Russian River have been invaluable advocates in their community outreach.
